St. John’s Pride hosted the city’s first ballroom function on July 11, 2026, bringing in the Kiki House of Constantine to lead a night called Legends, Statements and Stars. The event followed a free six hour workshop, with local BIPOC performers opening the night and first time participants taking the floor afterward. Godfather Noble Constantine, board member Laurabel Mba and performer Jada Graves talk about what the night means for a province that has lost tens of thousands of young people to interprovincial migration over the past three decades, while visitor Michel shares what it was like returning to St. John’s after ten years away to take in her first Pride festival. Organizers plan to keep building a ballroom scene in the city beyond the festival.
